Gulf Coast Papers Plan Katrina Anniversary Coverage

Commentary: The One-Year Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina Leaves No Cause for Celebration-by Judge Greg Mathis

Is Gulf Coast Ready for Another Hurricane? - Make sure you check the link towards the bottom of the post, it talks about how National Geographic warned of Katrina almost a year before!

~While it’s no surprise how major corporations like Starbucks have basically taken over the world, it is amazing to see their impact illustrated on a chart. Check the link to the Princeton site to have a look.

~In the place the blame on everyone but ourselves department, we have this article on rap and the side effects of listening to it, teen pregnancy. I’m not saying that hip-hop doesn’t have it’s issues that need to be worked out. I won’t go into a long winded debate on music and scape-goating. There are several articles online about it!

Hip Hop quotable from one of Davey D’s articles in regard to violence at hip-hop events compared to other public events.

“For example, violent incidents abound at soccer matches around the world but they don’t define the sport or a particular community. In many cases law enforcement and civic officials understand that the cost of doing business is a likelihood of violence. Hence fences are built to keep rival fans apart, while special security units patrol the stands. Hip-hop has never been afforded such treatment.”
~NPR article on the above subject~

~Music videos now showing at Old School Funk blog include, Genius Of Love, Tear The Roof Off LIVE, Freakazoid, More Bounce To The Ounce LIVE and tons more!

~Mixed Media Watch has a piece up called Viacom Doesn’t Care About Black People. In it they call out the MTV, VH1 parent company on the way they depict black people. Check it out, if for nothing more that the classic shot of Flav’s grin! (Shouts to Mixed Media Watch!)
~While your at it, check this video on YouTube, What Is The Right Way To Be White?

~So the word on the street is that ABC censored Spike Lee’s Katrina documentary by removing some of his more harsh comments regarding the Bush Administration. Set the TiVo for “When The Levee Broke”, which airs this Monday on HBO and check out the censored bits here.

So I’m back in the mix, making nothing but funky fresh hits for you and yours!  The next few weeks will be busy for the Canhead collective.  If you are in the LA area, you can catch us at a club near you, as the un-official JhaVoice promo tour kicks off in two weeks.  We have shows planned for the next month, starting with a performance at “Cultural Therapy” hosted by Jewlez Da God at Gabah (home of the Chocolate Bar) in Hollywood.  Stay tuned for more date and time announcements soon.

The new JhaVoice CD maxi single “Voice To Sing” is on the way as well.  You can pick your copy up at any of the shows, and as soon as I get them, you’ll be able to order directly at her website, Jhavoice.com, here at Canhead, our MySpace pages, and everywhere else we can get them in at. (Give me about a month you’ll be able to download them on ITunes)

If that wasn’t enough, your favorite b-boy blogger is just about ready to hit you with the new ish!  That’s right, my solo joint is just about ready, and I will be hitting the streets with some CD singles, to get you all used to my flow.  It may take you a minute to digest it, but once it hits you, I’m sure you’ll be back for more! The Attack of the Greybeards is about to begin!  So get ready for a fall filled with really really goodness from the Canhead crew!  Check back here for more news and announcements!

On a personal note, this weekend was nice for your boy.  The misses and I were doing it like five duce, four trey on the MC crap tables in Sin City, and came up lovely on a 5 dollar table.  That’s what’s up. Shouts to
Troy and Angela, send me some pictures ya’ll!

I started reposting some videos over at the old Canhead site.  I figured that it was a good place to post YouTube links and stuff that might not really fit into anything here.  Take a look and bookmark the page!
