We could be heroes October 17, 2006

Anybody that knows me well, knows that I am a comic book freaking nerd with no shame to my game. F what you heard, I’m all about the graphic novel. If it involves mutants with powers, sci-fi gadgets, villainous mad scientist, and talking animals with genius level IQ’s, I’m there! So when I heard about the new show “Heroes” on NBC, I almost lost it.
Since then, my previously favorite show, “Lost” has been bumped off the top of my television priorities list. “Heroes” is a…err…super show, with a psychic cop, juggernaut like cheerleader, time traveling Asian, drug addicted fortune teller/painter and soccer mom type turned killer to name a few. The series has built the story up, and we know that the heroes will somehow help prevent a nuclear explosion or something like that…we just don’t know how or when. I will be glued to my television every Monday until all is revealed..or until they start to bore the hell outta me like “Lost” is doing these days….I mean come on..”you taste like strawberries..you taste like fish cakes”? BORING!
In-Heroes
Out-Lost
Oh yeah, I mentioned graphic novels for a reason. Go to Hereos webpage on NBC to read the show’s comics!
The Visi..Visionaries is for the kids! October 16, 2006

Up Above Records has another heat rock on their hands with their latest release. The Visionaries We Are The Ones (We’ve Been Waiting For) is the fourth CD from the massive LA crew and it packs a hell of a punch. This CD is really tight, no doubt about it. You will walk away from listening to it with a new favorite song, as almost all of the tracks are rewind worthy. This is real hip-hop music, with the core ethics of the boom bap firmly in place.
How could it not be, with such underground house hold names like 2Mex, KeyKool, DJ Rhettmatic, Dannu, Lord Zen and LMNO lacing the project. That really is all you need to proceed. Speaking of “All We Need”, the video to the lead single is making it’s rounds on YouTube. It shows the crew hard at work on the road, kicking wicked rhymes in the back of the van. It’s only a matter of time before that J Dilla produced “All Right” is a video too. Hopefully the video will move me more than the track did. (That’s right, I said it..)I can hear the back packers talking sh!t about me right now, but I have to be honest, it’s not the hottest J Dilla track I’ve ever heard. It does have a certain grace to it, very fitting with everything considered. But it’s one of those beats that has to grow on you. Not like MY personal favorite song off the album, the Madlib produced posse jam, “Need To Learn”.
Featuring appearances by Brother J(X-Clan), RBX(DPG), Rakka Iriscience(Dialated People), Sadat X(Brand Nubian), and YZ, “Need To Learn” is one of the hardest tracks from the crew, period. “The Moreye/Reprise” is another nice song, with 2Mex Looking Daggers partner Ikey Owens and Mas Yamagata. “Crop Circles” will light up dance floor ciphers, and J Rocc’s “Do Gooders feat. Georgia Anne Muldrow” is equally as nice.
We Are The Ones (We’ve Been Waiting For) is 15 cuts full of pure hip-hop. Features bangers by Kozmonautz (KeyKool and DJ Rhettmatic), DJ Khalil, Kev Brown, J Rocc of Beat Junkies, the late great Jay Dee aka J Dilla, Madlib, James Alsander, and Polyhedron. The music is positive, hard hitting and on point. With beats by some of hip-hop’s elite, this one is on it’s way to classic status. I know what they have been waiting for, but I’m not sure about you. GO COP THAT!

one half of the critically acclaimed internationally known groundbreaking duo Organized Konfusion OK crashed the scene in the 90’s with 3 soul touching successful L.P’s before parting their ways to embark on solo careers.Prince po(short for poetry) continued grinding, adjusting to the ways of the new millenium via pro tools, cubase, etc to further his production skills. In 2002 he started a new foundation called Nasty Habits Entertainment. This foundation consist of a few artist and producers hand picked by po for their uniqueness and limitless talents. “I need people who is going to grind extra hard so we can elevate the culture” prince always utters …
In 2004, prince released his 1st. solo venture ” The Slickness ” thru London based Lex records. The record caused an overseas uproar and was given a 4 out of 5 stars by 3 major publications….and then the touring begun. After extensive touring with the likes of Dangermouse and Gemini, Sage Francis, RJD2, Prince paul and others, po returned safely heading straight back into the lab. In 2005 po landed a distribution deal with Traffic ent. which initially released a special Best of OK which sold exceptionally without any promotions. This year it will be his sophmore banger ” Prettyblack ” which hit the stores July 2006. Po bangs out more hot production on this one with the help of fellow beatmasters Rockwilder, Large pro, and again the madcap Madlib.
Nasty Habits has two artist…GBG and Tha Brothamens, both from New york. Po’s cousin C.J. is on the production side of the team… also there’s a trio from Amsterdam called Soulsearchin who’s beats is beyond compare….FIRE !!! Po’s also picking up a few artist from the west coast to add to the roster. Prince po has numerous amounts of feature spots like Project Polaroid with Tom C and Kool Keith, Percee P’s debut album , Wildchyld, Madlib’s new album, Up above compilation (po has the 1st single) , Cadence’s what it do…so forth and so on….
