4 Killed In Separate Labor Day Shootings Throughout South LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Police say at least four people were killed and several others were wounded in a series of Labor Day shootings throughout South Los Angeles.

There was at least one injury shooting per hour reported in the area throughout the afternoon Monday, Los Angeles police Lt. John Jenal said. Several of the shootings may be gang-related.

The first of the fatal shootings was reported about 2 p.m. near a car wash at the intersection of West Florence and South Vermont avenues, Los Angeles police Officer Jane Kim said. The two men, one in his 30s and the other in his 20s, were both shot and died at a hospital, coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter said. Their names were withheld, pending notification of their relatives.

About an hour later and several blocks away, another person was shot at West 65th Street and South Vermont Avenue. That person…
